By now we have probably all heard about the earthquake that took place in Haiti on Tuesday. It is said to be the worst earthquake in Haiti for over 200 years. Several thousand died without a moments notice. That is to say that several thousand souls were hurled into eternity. It is a very sobering thought that of those multiple thousands of souls probably none of them expected there lives to come to an end that day. They woke up just like every other morning and expected to go on with the events of the day. Yet, that is not what happened. Their lives came to and end and all that they had left was their souls. This was certainly a tragic event but it can serve as a great reminder for you and I. We do not know when our lives will end; we only know that they will. This is why Jesus warned us to "Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming" (Matthew 25:5). We do not know when we will go on to meet the Lord. Therefore, we must be prepared all our lives for that day. If we are prepared then our death will be a victory and not a tragedy.
