We are familiar with the song: “God Bless America.” Over the past couple centuries or so, God has certainly blessed America. This country has become the most prosperous nation this world has ever known.
In recent times, however, it seems that America, and her leaders, have drifted further from God, being (for the most part) very unconcerned about His laws that are indeed vital to a thriving society.
There is a reason for concern. The wise man wrote: “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people” (Prov. 14:34). The Psalmist said, “The wicked shall return to Sheol, all the nations that forget God” (Ps. 9:17).
What will become of this nation? Only God knows for sure.
Perhaps instead of singing, “God Bless America,” our song (and prayer) should be, “America, Bless God.” If America would once again become a God-fearing nation, so many problems would take care of themselves. America, bless God!
