Meswsianic prophecies in the Bible

The Messiah was to be the "seed of woman" (Genesis 3:15) – there would be no "seed of man" involved in the birth of God's Son. His conception would be a biological miracle (Isaiah 7:14), that is, He would be born of a virgin. JESUS was born of a virgin; JESUS had a miraculous birth (Matthew 1:18-23).

The Messiah was to be in the lineage of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Judah, David, (Galatians 3:8 & 16).  JESUS was of the lineage of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Judah, David (Luke 3:23-38).

The Messiah was to be born in the city of Bethlehem (Micah 5:2).  JESUS was born in the city of Bethlehem (Matthew 2:1).

The Messiah would work miracles (Isaiah 35:5-7).  JESUS worked miracles (Matthew 4:24); He even raised the dead which was something His worst enemies could not deny (John 11:47).

God's Son would be crucified (Isaiah 53).  JESUS was crucified (Matthew 27).

God's Son would be numbered with transgressors (Isaiah 53:12).  JESUS was numbered with transgressors, being crucified between two thieves (Matthew 27:38).

The Messiah would even intercede for His own murderers! (Isaiah 53:12).  JESUS prayed, "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do" (Luke 23:34).

It was prophesied that when God's Son was crucified it would become dark at noon (Amos 8:9). When JESUS was crucified, a thick darkness fell over the land at noon (Mark 15:33).

The Messiah's grave would be with the rich (Isaiah 53:9).  JESUS was buried in the tomb of Joseph of Arimathea, a very rich man (Matthew 27:57-60).

God's Son would rise from the dead on the third day (Psalm 16:10 with John 11:39). JESUS rose from the dead on the third day (1Corinthians 15:4).

These are just ten of the over 300 prophecies concerning the Messiah that were fulfilled by a single Man named JESUS.

Consider: Could an imposter fulfill a promise to rise again? JESUS prophesied His own death and resurrection (John 2:18-22). After His crucifixion and burial, He was seen alive again by over 500 eye witnesses (1Corinthians 15:3-6).

Consider also: it's a fact of History that tens of thousands of men and women in the first century endured torture and death rather than deny the resurrection of Jesus - - why did they do this?  Answer: Because they were of such noble character that they refused to deny the Truth.  What kind of  *character*  do you have?  Stay Hungry (Matt. 5:6) - Toby
