I must be loosing my mind

Have you ever felt like you're loosing it, you know what I mean, loosing
your mind? Well, maybe you haven't, but at times I wondered about myself. I
have entered that stage in life, where "senior moments" occasionally happen.
You know, you start for the kitchen, open the refrigerator and ask yourself,
"Now, what did I come in here for?"

Well, you might find some encouragement in the fact that you don't have to
be a "senior" to have those moments. This week my sister, Janet's 2-1/2 year
old grand daughter, Megan had one of those moments. She is a little tiny
thing that is just starting to talk well. She came up to her mother and
said, "Mommy, will you do me a favor?" Her mother replied, "What is it
sweetie?" Megan replied, 'It's in the kitchen." So they walked into the
kitchen. Her mom said, "Now, what do you want?" Megan stood there for a few
moments thinking hard and trying to express what she wanted, but just
couldn't get it out. Finally unable to remember what she wanted, she looked
at her mom and said, "I guess I'm loosing my mind."

Sometimes I know just how she feels! I try to express something and the
words just don't come out the way I want or I can't remember the exact
phrase I'm trying to quote. Maybe for me it would better expressed as: "I
guess it's just lost in my mind". Eventually I find it, but my mental filing
system sometimes doesn't work quite like I want it to.

The promising thing about life is that no matter how poor you are at
remembering, our relationship to God and his remembering never falters. What
we need to remember is that God doesn't expect us to know everything or
understand everything. We need to focus on what is really important, living
daily for him and maintaining that relationship. Surely we can remember one
thing like that can't we?

I like the way the Apostle Paul expressed it in Philippians 3:13-14 where he
said: "No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on
THIS ONE THING: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead,
I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for
which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us." (NLT)

We need not to focus upon trying to remember everything, but focus upon "the
heavenly prize". So, the next time you think you are loosing you mind, stop
and refocus, remember what is really important, God and your relationship to
him.
